At PromiseLand of Sherman we are all about relationships! Relationships like life sometimes get “messy” they are full of ups and downs along the way. People all over the world are looking for a place they can connect and “fit” into the “bigger” picture of life, at PromiseLand there is a place for YOU!
Our prayer is that you would be blessed and strengthened by the power of Jesus Christ and that you will live a life of abundance in fellowship, joy and liberty. PromiseLand of Sherman is here for you. It is a fellowship of believers coming together to declare the glory of the Lord and celebrate Jesus as King. We study the Word, practice what we learn and in the process grow together. We hope to see you very soon! May God richly bless you and yours!
Pastor Larry Flenniken –
Pastor Tommy Sutherland
Many times we think that in order for God to really work or for life change to happen a person has to be in the four walls of the church building. We limit God to a period of time, a place, or a position. When in reality when you read the Word of God you see that most of the “Life Changing Moments” in Jesus and the disciples ministry happened in the “real world” while they were practicing the preaching or putting the Word into practice.
Over and over again we have read and have heard the powerful truth of God’s Word and yet very rarely (in most of our cases) does that “Word” really begin to be practiced in our world… where we live, breath, and operate.
It is when we put into practice the preaching that real ministry can begin.
I tend to let my situation many times dictate my response and the power that I have. When in reality I/we need to stop letting our situations change our faith, determination, and confidence in what the Word says about us.
For Job God pulled back the hedge of protection and allowed trauma to come upon his life to see if Job was ready to practice the Word… as we read in the book we find that after Job withstood the pressure and trauma he was elevated in position and stature. God was able to bring him into the next level of blessing and abundance because he (Job) was ready to graduate to the next level after practicing the preaching!
If we as a body of believers will begin to look at trauma, opposition, and problems we face not as setbacks but as setups where God is allowing us the opportunity to put into practice the preaching (Word of God) so that he can then raise us up to a new level with him how much different our daily lives would be and how greater the impact we would make!
Let me end this post by saying I have not yet arrived but I am hoping to continue to move forward and do more practicing than preaching!
Our Mission & Vision
The mission of PromiseLand Church of Sherman is to love God, to love others, and to magnify the name of Jesus Christ. The vision of our church is to glorify our God and Savior, Jesus Christ, to make true disciples throughout all the nations by means of missionary activity and support, to minister the ordinances, to edify believers, and to do all that is sovereignly possible and biblically permissible to magnify the name of Jesus.
Our leadership team recognizes the authority of God, and realizes that we are shepherds who serve under the Chief Shepherd, Jesus Christ. We desire to devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the Word. Our passion and goal is to equip the believers for the work of the ministry and encourage people from all walks of life to develop a life changing relationship with Jesus.

Their heart felt love for people and willingness to accept people from all backgrounds and walks of life have enabled their ministry to impact the lives of so many that others have all but given up on

Where Can I Serve?
Jesus told us, his disciples, to make disciples of all nations. One of the most important values of PromiseLand Church of Sherman is our mission to the world. It begins in our own community, and spreads throughout the world.
Worship & Music
God-honoring worship is something we strive for. Many church members get involved in our music and worship ministry. Some play their instruments. Some are vocalists. Others are involved in the choir. These volunteers are an important part of the ministry of PromiseLand Church of Sherman, using their talents and gifts to glorify God.
The usher team at PromiseLand Church of Sherman fills an important role. They are involved in directing attendees to their seats, ensuring the safety of the building during services, guiding traffic, helping visitors, answering questions, providing direction, unlocking doors, locking doors, and generally ensuring that the service can proceed problem-free. The usher team is a servant-hearted group of men and women whose ministry is integral to church life.
Media & Technology
Using media to spread the gospel is a privilege of PromiseLand of Sherman. In an age of widespread technology, we have a stewardship to use these tools as best as possible for kingdom purposes. All of our weekly sermons are uploaded to our website in audio format.
Prayer cannot be overestimated. Prayer moves the hand of God. PromiseLand Church is a body of believers dependent upon prayer, and committed to God’s sovereignty. Each Sunday, during the morning service, a team of volunteers is praying for the ministry of the Word. Throughout the week, volunteers to our Prayer Warriors team, pray for their pastor, a list of church members, any special requests, and other prayer needs. During every service our Prayer Ministers take time to pray for those in need and those with prayer requests… If Prayer is Anything, Prayer is Everything!
PromiseLand of Sherman offers a time of Children’s Church every Sunday. This special time gives kids more opportunity for interaction and learning in a context and manner that may be better suited to their age and learning styles. Our friendly children’s church volunteers have an endless stream of creativity–ranging from puppet shows, to games, to object lessons.
Youth Ministry (12-17)
At PromiseLand of Sherman we offer weekly teaching and times of fellowship to encourage our youth that they are not alone and they have people and a God that is on their side! We host events and activities that allow for time of spiritual growth and fun!
Young Adult Ministry (18+)
At this age it is time to begin stepping into the calling God has placed on your life. At PromiseLand of Sherman we utilize our Young Adults to assist in various ministry programs that will allow them to identify where their talents and gifts can be best used for the Kingdom of God. The Young Adult Class meets at least monthly for a time of bible study and at other times for fellowship.
Married Couples Ministry
Marriage in today’s world takes work but it is well worth the effort! At PromiseLand we encourage our married couples with times of fellowship and special events that allow relationships to be strengthened and lives to be encouraged. Events and various opportunities of fellowship take place through out the year.
How Do I Meet People?
PromiseLand of Sherman is not a place for spectators. It is a place for team members. Whether you are a five-year old child, a ninety-five year old grandmother, a busy mom, or a businessman with big responsibilities, we want you to be a part of our vibrant church community. Here is how you can learn, serve, and grow at PromiseLand Church of Sherman.
Youth Ministry & Children’s Church
Each Sunday morning, children & youth get to participate in their own classes. Bible lessons are taught in such a way that every child and young person gets to participate and learn.
Life can get complicated once you cross that nebulous threshold into adulthood. There are complicated decisions. Bigger stakes. Serious relationships. And a whole lot more decisions. The young adult group of PromiseLand of Sherman provides a welcoming atmosphere for college and early-career aged young people.
Even though marriage is one of the most important institutions, it is the one which is under the most attack–internally and externally. PromiseLand Church gives married couples the opportunity to join together, connect and learn from each other as we learn from God.
